CSI is a national association dedicated to creating standards and formats to improve construction documents and project delivery. The Cook Inlet Chapter provides an opportunity at the local level for members to promote the advancement of the objectives of the Institute.

Please join us on February 16, 2010 at the next general meeting for CSI's Cook Inlet Chapter and welcome Sheri Konowitz, CSI, CDT for a presentation on a critical issue all of CSI's chapters will face in the coming years.

EMERGING PROFESSIONALS

Did you know that less than 18% of CSI membership is less than 40 years old and almost 60% of CSI membership is over the age of 50? You can imagine the impact this could have on CSI unless we sharpen our pencils and take a good hard look at this matter. This presentation will explore:
• What is an Emerging Professional and why are they important to the future of CSI?
• What are the challenges CSI has recruiting and retaining Emerging Professionals?
• What are the challenges Emerging Professionals face in committing to CSI?
• Why is an Emerging Professional Group necessary?

Ms. Konowitz works in marketing and office management for the structural engineering firm of M. R. Richards Engineering, Inc. She is currently serving as the Willamette Valley Chapter Secretary and Membership Chair as well as the Northwest Regional Secretary and Regional Membership Chair.

Prior to the program and dinner, an emerging professional intern from one of our member's offices will be giving a fifteen minute presentation on current work. Following Sheri's presentation, the floor will be opened to questions and discussion so bring your interns to the meeting to contribute to this hot current topic.
